ThalaSwap is now Permissionless
Tl;dr: Anyone can now whitelist their tokens and create liquidity pools on Thala Swap by seeding initial liquidity.
Why we are making it Permissionless?
Thala Swap has grown rapidly, powering significant volumes ($350 million cumulatively) and attracting over $100 million in TVL. Most of it has come through blue-chip assets like APT, thAPT, zUSDC, zUSDT, MOD, and THL. Thala currently has ~15 actively traded assets, which have been whitelisted by the Thala team. However, the permissioned nature of token whitelisting has been a bottleneck for growth.
In the coming months, we believe Aptos will witness a new wave of token launches, from project tokens to the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs), memecoins, and Liquid Staking Tokens. We aim to enable teams to create pools on Thala Swap permissionlessly and offer their users the best swapping experience. For example, one could launch their memecoin, create the liquidity pool, add some liquidity, and make it tradable on Thala Swap. This will enable more volume from a long tail of assets like memecoins, RWAs, LSTs, stablecoins, and project tokens, thereby increasing DeFi activity throughout the ecosystem. Additionally, this move aligns with our commitment to progressively decentralize Thala.
How does it work?
You can create your pool in just a few minutes:
- Choose a pool type:
- Stable Pool — best suited for stablecoins.
- Weighted Pool — allows adding custom weights to the pools.
- Add the tokens by entering or pasting the mint address — multiple tokens can also be added, as it’s a multi-asset pool.
- Choose an amplification factor — High amplification factors delay price deviations and allow greater token imbalances while returning to the same price.
- Add liquidity to each of the tokens in the pool.
Once created, the pool is ready, and the assets are tradable on Thala Swap!
What’s next?
Going forward, our focus will be on increasing capital efficiency, i.e., achieving higher volumes for a given TVL. We will continue to improve Thala Swap to make it the best trading venue on Aptos and beyond. Stay tuned for significant improvements to Thala Swap!
